Far from crowded beaches and bars

If you haven't been to Extremadura before, now's the time to consider it. As Spain prepares to re-open in July following the coronavirus crisis, this isolated region should be well placed to attract visitors looking for wide open spaces, al fresco dining and escape from the crowds. Here's a piece I've done for the Telegraph suggesting a driving tour of some of the highlights, including four UNESCO World Heritage sites. (You'll need to register to read it I'm afraid.)
